Fredericksburg Farmers Market
There’s nothing like the fresh taste of locally grown fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and meats! The Fredericksburg Farmers Market provides goods from farmers, ranchers, and wineries in and around Gillespie County.
In addition to shopping for agricultural products, on a typical day, visitors can also enjoy wine tastings from some of the excellent wineries in the region. If wine isn’t your thing, there are also coffee roasters and other vendors to quench your thirst.
During spring and summer weeks, free live music under the pavilion is provided to add a layer of fun to this family-friendly event, so you can kick back, relax, and enjoy the afternoon.
Because it is a truly local event and vendors are committed to their mission of providing the best goods for locals and visitors, there are plenty of opportunities to meet a farmer, rancher, chef, baker, or vintner, as they are often present to ask questions. This is a great way to support local agriculture and viticulture in Fredericksburg while enjoying the great tastes and health benefits that come from eating wholesome, local food. Not to mention, it’s a great way to spend a Thursday afternoon!
Please visit the Fredericksburg Farmers Market website for a list of vendors and upcoming dates. Vendors are subject to change, but there are always several to visit on any given week.
When the Farmer’s Market Takes Place
The Fredericksburg Farmers Market is open seven months out of the year! It typically starts in mid-April and continues through mid-August before re-opening for the fall season. The produce offered changes throughout the year based on what is in season for each week, so it’s a great idea to visit often.
Where To Find It
The Farmers Market is held in downtown Fredericksburg at Marktplatz, 126 W. Main St., next to City Hall. The beautiful location in historic downtown Fredericksburg makes it convenient to attend the market while visiting the many shops, restaurants, and attractions.
What Time It Operates
The Fredericksburg Farmers Market is open on Thursdays from 4 – 7 p.m.
What You Can Buy There
The market typically offers a variety of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables including peaches, blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes, greens, mushrooms, and more. Also sold are meats, eggs, seafood, cheese, flowers, vinegar, juices, coffee, and herbs.
Meals, snacks, and beverages can also be enjoyed at the farmers market, including pizza baked in a wood-burning oven, BBQ, soups, salads, pastries, and more! All are made with local ingredients and can be enjoyed picnic-style in a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere under the Marktplatz pavilion.
