Breweries & Distilleries

With Fredericksburg's German history, beer is bound to be found in town. Both Fredericksburg Brewing Company and Altstadt Brewery offer different varieties of brews to locals and visitors alike, while also providing delicious eats to patrons. Meanwhile, Elk Store Winery and Distillery bottles its own spirits on Main Street.

The oldest and most acclaimed brewpub in Texas, Fredericksburg Brewing Company is a staple in downtown Fredericksburg. Located on Main Street, here you'll find six different beers on tap including award-winning ales with seasonal specialty brews and German-style lagers, as well as a full German menu in the restaurant. Fredericksburg Brewing Company also offers accommodations over the brewery where you can enjoy a stay in one of the 12 “bed and brew" rooms.

altstadt brewery

One of Fredericksburg's newest attractions, Altstadt Brewery, is an authentic Bavarian brewery dedicated to creating the purest easy-drinking beers guided by the historic German purity law of 1516. Altstadt’s premium German-style beers are made using only four ingredients - hops, barley, yeast and artesian spring water. The 120-acre property located just outside of Fredericksburg features a restaurant, brewery tours and more. 

Bluemont Vineyard & Brewery

Bluemont Vineyard & Brewery is centrally located on the 290 corridor in Stonewall. In addition to serving Texas wine, Bluemont serves craft beer and hard cider (coming fall 2023.)The brewery serves beer by the pint as well as flights. Brewery tours are available at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and are $15, which includes the tour and a tasting. 

dietz distillery

The newest addition to Fischer & Weiser's Das Peach Haus complex is Dietz Distillery, which offers small artisan batches of gin and peach and pear eau de vie with more products arriving soon. Visitors will learn about the process and history of alcohol distillation and explore the expansive world of spirits and how they have come together to make the cocktails we know and love.

For those looking for a distillery experience on Main Street, Elk Store Winery & Distillery is must. Elk Store Winery & Distillery produces small-batch moonshine, gin, rum and whiskey from a one-of-a-kind handmade Kentucky copper still. While at the distillery you can enjoy tasting the small-batch liquors, handmade cocktails, wines from across the world and gourmet small plates.

Enjoy 100% Texas wines and beers while viewing a collection of museum-quality classic cars. Each tasting consists of a curated collection of four 4-ounce Texas brews or five award-winning Texas wines, and you get to keep your souvenir glass. Beer tastings are $10. Wine tastings are $15.

Hye Cider Company, located at Texas Wine Collective, specializes in house-made cider and their own spin on apple cider fermented with honey - regarded as a category of mead - called cyser. Founded by a cadre of cider enthusiasts, Hye Cider creates unforgettable cider experiences for its patrons. Their commitment to quality and community has cemented their reputation as a favorite among cider lovers.  

iron goat distillery

Iron Goat Distillery is a craft distillery that is family and veteran-owned. Their spirits, including award-winning rum, agave spirit and honey spirit, are fermented and distilled in a 50-gallon pot still. Find them located inside of Grand Central at Milam, just two blocks north of Main St.

Modisett & Sons

Modisett & Sons brings the classic qualities of scotch to Texas by following traditional Scottish distillation methods. To ensure the highest quality, they utilize Scottish copper pot stills and premium malted barley. Being aged in second run American Oak barrels in the Texas climate sets Modisett & Sons apart from all other single malt whiskies. At the tasting room visitors can enjoy a glass of single malt neat, on the rocks or in one of their signature cocktails.

Ogle Brewery

Ogle Brewery opened in 2022 and is part of the Arch Ray Resort. The brewery typically has six beers on tap at a time and offerings rotate. As part of their opening, they have three easy-drinking light styles: Extra Light Cream Ale, a Cream Ale and a Mexican Lager. Darker styles include a Red/Amber Ale, an American IPA and an Oatmeal Stout.

Located in the heart of Texas Wine Country, Salvation Spirits is a purpose-driven, environmentally conscious distillery with a mission to make products of unsurpassed quality, out of the finest ingredients, and to share success with those in need. Salvation Spirits’ focuses on making premium craft vodka, gin and brandy infused with fruit organically grown on site, including peaches, plums, pears, and blackberries.

1693 Distillery

Opened in 2022, 1693 Distillery can trace its roots all the way back to 1851, when the owner's third great-grandfather, Heinrich “Henry” Ochs, immigrated to Fredericksburg from Germany. Ochs was the founder of the Buckhorn Saloon in Fredericksburg. The saloon, which served the family’s beer and whiskey recipes, was one of the first in the area and became a popular watering hole that can be read about in history books today. The owners have been working for the past five years to deliver a true farm-to-bottle experience at 1693 Distillery.
