Farms & Orchards
Gillespie County is one of the largest peach-producing counties in Texas with some 600 acres of trees. Roadside peach stands line many of the roads leading into Fredericksburg, with a major concentration along Highway 290 between Fredericksburg and Stonewall and along Highway 87 South.
The peach season runs from mid-May through mid-August. The Hill Country Fruit Council produces a listing of its members in a brochure entitled Fredericksburg-Stonewall Peaches, which is available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center.
In addition to Texas Hill Country peaches, Fredericksburg and Gillespie County are home to a number of ranches, farms and pecan orchards. From wildflower farms like Windmill Meadows Farms to family-owned pecan orchards and Roam Ranch, which is focused on regenerative agriculture - Fredericksburg offers agricultural experiences aplenty.
