Visit Fredericksburg During the 2026 World Cup

When the world comes to Texas this summer, make sure you save time for wine country. Fredericksburg puts nearly 100 wineries, vineyards, and tasting rooms, an elevated culinary scene, and a walkable Main Street within easy reach of Dallas.

June is one of the best times to be here. Wildflowers give way to peach season, the wineries are in full swing, and the long summer evenings are made for patio dining and live music.

Things To Do In Fredericksburg

Here, you'll find award-winning Texas wine country, restaurants that have earned national recognition, live music spilling out onto Main Street, rousing local events, and landscapes that stop you in your tracks. From Enchanted Rock State Natural Area to the largest working wildflower farm in the United States, there's more to discover than a single trip can hold.

Texas Hill Country Wineries

The Texas Hill Country has quietly become one of the most exciting wine regions in the country with more than 100 wineries, vineyards, and tasting rooms spread across the rolling landscape surrounding Fredericksburg. The region specializes in bold, expressive varietals like Tempranillo, Syrah, Viognier, and Marsanne, many of them poured in tasting rooms with views that are worth the visit on their own.

Getting Here By Car

Fredericksburg is easy to reach, with several convenient ways to get there, depending on where you're coming from. Austin is just 80 miles east, and San Antonio is about 70 miles south, both under two hours, making Fredericksburg the perfect stop for fans moving between World Cup cities. Houston is roughly four hours, and Dallas is about four and a half. Both routes take you through some of the most beautiful Texas landscapes you'll find, making the journey worth the time.

Once you're here, a car gives you the most freedom to explore the Hill Country at your own pace. Rideshare services are available for getting around town, and if the wineries are calling, Fredericksburg's 30+ wine tour companies have you covered. Many of them also offer private transportation services in and around town, as well as airport pickups from Austin and San Antonio.

Getting Here By Air

Two major international airports serve the region. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is approximately 90 minutes from Fredericksburg, and San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is about an hour away. Both airports are well-connected to major global hubs, with rental cars and ground transportation available for the final leg of the trip. For private and charter flights, Gillespie County Airport serves as the local gateway right outside of town.

For a more elevated arrival, Ladybird Jet is a Hill Country–based luxury aviation service offering scheduled semi-private flights aboard the Pilatus PC-12 from Dallas, Houston, and Midland directly into Fredericksburg. They also accept private charter requests for those who want a fully customized routing.

Accommodations for Every Traveler

From luxury resort properties and boutique hotels to charming bed and breakfasts and private vacation rentals, Fredericksburg has accommodations to fit every travel style and group size. Families and large groups traveling together will find a wide selection of spacious rental homes, many with private pools, full kitchens, and stunning views, that make Fredericksburg feel like a true home away from home during your Texas stay.

Where to Watch the Matches

Can't make it to the stadium? Fredericksburg has you covered. Several local bars and restaurants will be screening World Cup matches throughout the tournament.

To make sure a business will be showing a match on their televisions, we always recommend calling ahead before you visit one of Fredericksburg's wonderful restaurants or bars.
