It's fall, y'all! And we couldn't be more excited to welcome cooler temps and a new season to the Texas Hill Country. For a fun, family-friendly outing, pumpkin picking should be at the top of your list.
Here are local businesses where you can pick out the perfect pumpkin:
- Eckhardt Orchards will have already-picked pumpkins and gourds for sale from Sept. 8-Oct. 21 on Fridays and Saturdays only, from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Note: They will be closed Sept. 29-30.
- Jenschke Orchards offers a pick-your-own patch and already-picked pumpkins beginning Sept. 15 and continuing through October on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. They also have a corn pile, corn hole games, a Texas-sized jump pillow, wagon rides and a corn maze for $10 admission. Kids ages 5 and under are free.
- Vogel Orchard offers a pick-your-own patch and a large selection of already-picked pumpkins, including traditional pumpkins and specialty gourds. Be sure to come hungry because they also sell pies, cobblers, cookies, ice cream, preserves, jellies and other local goodies. They are open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from noon-5 p.m. Fall hours begin Sept. 30.
- And Wildseed Farms is not just for flowers! Beginning in mid-September, the farm has truckloads of pumpkins and gourds – more than 25 varieties – to choose from. The fall photo ops are amazing!
