Start your day off on the right foot at these outstanding brunch spots in Fredericksburg.

Altstadt Brewery (Sunday Only)

You'll feel transported from the moment you set foot in Alstadt Brewery. This old-world, German-inspired brewery serves upscale pub food, and they do a wonderful brunch on Sundays (from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Get the Bavarian Eggs Benedict (two poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, arugula, pork Lomo, a toasted pretzel and crispy waffle hashbrowns) or the Corned Beef Hash (two eggs, confit beef, sauteed onions and roasted potatoes), then wash it all down with the Michelada Grande, a Texas-sized Michelada served with bacon strips, a mini pretzel and a jalapeno cheddar sausage on a stick.

Fredericksburg Brunch Co. (Every Day Except Thursday)

At Fredericksburg Brunch Co., the trendy atmosphere and tasty, sophisticated dishes make it a go-to destination for brunch. Try one of the specialties, like the Eggs Neptune (poached eggs, an English muffin, crab cakes, and sauteed spinach) or the Eggs Benedict. For the table, there’s escargot and truffle parm frites. Sip from a variety of classic cocktails, including mimosas, bellinis and Bloody Mary’s.

Hill Country Herb Garden (Every Day Except Monday)

The chef-curated brunch menu at Hill Country Herb Garden is simply excellent. Ask what the weekly special is or opt for the Smoked Salmon Benedict or Steak Ranchero Benedict, both offering an inventive twist on the classic Eggs Benedict. Round out your meal with a mimosa with fresh juice or another signature brunch cocktail. In addition to the restaurant, there are 14 cottages and a state-of-the-art spa on the premises.

Come hungry at Hill & Vine—the portions are sizable (even by Texas standards), and the brunch menu includes all kinds of sweet and savory treats you can’t get anywhere else in town. If it’s your first time, you can’t go wrong with the Chicken Schnitzel and Waffles (served with spicy local honey and whipped maple butter) or the Carrot Cake French Toast with cream cheese icing and maple syrup. Be sure to start with the Bloody Mary Deviled Eggs, a house specialty. Their cocktails are on point, too.

Mequite at the Warehouse

Nury's Breakfast and Lunch (Every Day Except Monday)

Nury’s is an authentic Mexican American brunch spot serving breakfast and lunch all day. In addition to traditional brunch items like pancakes and omelets, they have delicious specialties like chilaquiles, huevos divorciados and Cochinita Pibil. Wine, beer and mimosas are available. It’s a good spot to bring the whole family—there's also a kid’s menu with chicken strips and fried shrimp.

Old German Bakery & Restaurant (Every Day Except Wednesday and Thursday)

Look no further than Old German Bakery & Restaurant for a dining experience rich in German character and taste. This family-owned spot is easily one of the best brunch places in Fredericksburg (though do note if your party is bigger than six, they may split you up). Dive into the local cuisine with the Holstein Schnitzel (a breaded pork cutlet topped with eggs and served with German pan fries and a buttermilk biscuit). The pancakes and waffles are also famously tasty.

Pi Social (Weekends Only)

Pi Social boasts a buzzworthy brunch on the weekends. Featuring elevated ingredients, the menu is solidly New American, with delectable sandwiches, salads and classic brunch fare. If you’re feeling hangry, get the Drenched Monte Cristo (a mouthwatering concoction of French toast, smoked ham, smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, strawberry preserve and hot maple syrup) or The Hangover (black Angus beef, hash brown, American cheese, bacon and a sunny-side-up egg served on a sourdough bun). The drinks at Pi Social are every bit as unique as the food, with specialty cocktails such as the G Wagon, a refreshing mix of Enchanted Rock Vodka, Chambord, blueberry mint syrup, lemon and sparkling wine. It’s a great date spot.

Rathskeller Bistro (Every Day Except Tuesday)

You can’t beat the ambiance at Rathskeller Bistro. Situated in the basement of the historic Keidel Hospital building, this eatery is a charming homage to the town’s German heritage. Menu highlights include the Hill Country Duck Hash (two eggs any way with grilled duck breast on hashed potatoes and hollandaise), the Keidel (a three-egg omelet with Opa’s Smoked Sausage, caramelized onions, sauteed spinach and Swiss cheese) and the Texas French Toast (complete with warm peach-pecan syrup and fresh whipped cream). Pair your dish with the Rathskeller Bloody Mary or a mimosa.

Sunset Grill (Weekends Only)

If it’s a boozy brunch with pals you want, Sunset Grill has you covered. With six different mimosa-style cocktails and a bevy of savory dishes to match, it’s no surprise this restaurant’s motto is “the Best Breakfast in Town.” Favorites include the Bourbon Street Bennie (blackened shrimp, andouille sausage, sauteed spinach, poached eggs and a buttermilk biscuit) and the Santa Fe Omelet (chorizo, onions, cheddar and jack cheese, topped with guacamole and pico de gallo), among others.

Western Edge (Weekends Only)

Western Edge is a cozy, family-friendly restaurant that serves hearty American cuisine, often backdropped by live music. For a classic, get the Ranch Hand Breakfast, which comes with two eggs your way, bacon or sausage, hash browns and a buttermilk biscuit. The Migas and the Garden Omelet (three eggs with spinach, tomatoes, green onion and basil) are also great go-to dishes. If it’s a nice day out, their patio is a fantastic spot to linger over your Bloody Mary or mimosa.
