About
Cross Mountain Park is located on a historic hill with an elevation of 1,951 feet featuring beautiful views, walking trails, a butterfly garden and picnic areas.
In 1847 during the settling of Fredericksburg, a timber cross was found on the historic hilltop, previously used as a lookout point by Native Americans. Early Fredericksburg pioneers gave this hill the name "Kreuzberg" or Cross Mountain. In 1946, the current, permanent lighted cross was raised.
