Overview

Officially known as Long Range Penetration Groups, the Chindits were special operations units within the British Army that operated deep behind enemy lines in Burma. These forces conducted raids, disrupted supply lines, and gathered intelligence while enduring harsh jungle conditions.

This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the Chindits and their role in the Pacific War. Guests can explore real artifacts while gaining insight into jungle warfare, special operations tactics, and the experiences of soldiers who operated far from conventional front lines.

Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays on the Nimitz Platz at 340 E Main St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
