Overview

When America joined the Second World War in 1941, the Boy Scouts of America immediately volunteered to help however they could. Learn about Scouts serving as air raid wardens, coastal patrols, and in many other roles at this free special outpost!

This FREE Outpost program offers visitors an opportunity to learn how the Boy Scouts of America stepped up on the home front after the United States entered the Second World War in 1941. Guests will discover how Scouts volunteered their time and skills by serving as air raid wardens, coastal patrol members, messengers, and civil defense aides.

Outpost programs are educational, drop-in experiences held on select Saturdays at the Pacific Combat Zone, located at 508 E Austin St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Visitors of all ages are welcome to stop by, ask questions, and engage directly with history.
