Overview
Fredericksburg in the mid-1800s was home to German “Freethinkers,” who brought bold ideas & a spirit of independence to the Hill Country. When Dr. Wilhelm Victor Keidel arrived in 1847 as the town’s first physician, Austin Street marked the edge of the Texas frontier. Here, wellhouses were essential to life, becoming places to gather, share stories & build community. Today, the Keidel family’s historic wellhouse remains at Albert Hotel, inspiring our main restaurant, The Wellhouse which serves Hill Country comfort meals daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour & weekend brunch.
