Overview
Behrends Family Homestead is a country retreat designed to accommodate larger groups in four guesthouses with modern amenities. The homestead is located 12 miles from Main Street on nearly 10 acres of farmland. The entire property can sleep up to 18 guests, and there are plenty of areas for the group to come together, including a party barn and courtyards with firepits. All four guesthouses — The Oswald, The Cora, The Judy and The Melvin — can be rented together or separately.
Originally homesteaded in the late 1800s, The Oswald has been a place of warmth and celebration for over 100 years. Lovingly restored to modern convenience, this four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom farmhouse offers comfort with a collection of one-of-a-kind historic furnishings and décor from the original Behrends family. It includes a full kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, a farm table with plenty of seating and a washer and dryer. The living room has a cozy fireplace, Smart TV and space to sprawl. Outside, find a private courtyard, a party barn with a hot tub, a dining table, comfortable seating, a grill, outdoor TV and games. There is also a half bath located steps away for convenience. The Melvin, The Judy and The Cora are stunning one-bedroom units — and no two are alike.
What they do have in common are king-sized beds, indoor fireplaces, Smart TVs, full bathrooms with double vanities and private courtyards with hot tubs, outdoor showers and fire pits. The Judy stands out with its full kitchen, bar seating and open floor plan. The Melvin and The Cora feature kitchenettes designed for functionality and convenience. They include a mini-fridge, a microwave for heating up meals and a coffee-maker for brewing your morning pick-me-up. Basic dinnerware, glassware and cutlery are provided for your convenience. Each guesthouse on Behrends Family Homestead is named after a family member who spent time cultivating the land and shaping it into what it is today. Once on the property, guests can learn about the homestead’s rich history, with roots in the Great Wave of German Immigration of 1853.
