See the Bats at Old Tunnel State Park

There are plenty of fun things to do outdoors in Fredericksburg. One activity that is unique to this time of year is seeing the bats at Old Tunnel State Park.

The smallest state park in Texas is home to one of the most unusual natural spectacles in the Hill Country. From May through October, an estimated three million Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from an old railroad tunnel at dusk in a display that draws visitors from across the state. Viewing is available on select nights, and you can purchase tickets in advance through the Texas State Parks reservation system.
