Texas Hill Country Named as one of the “Best in the US” By Lonely Planet

FREDERICKSBURG, TX --- The Texas Hill Country was named Number 8 on the Lonely Planet’s “Best in the US” list – noting the Texas Hill Country’s wine region as one of “the US destinations you need to see in 2017.”

The article states, “Every year Lonely Planet’s experts scour the States to bring your America’s unmissables. From sweeping mountain ranges, tropical coastline, desertscapes and dazzling cities, these underrated or off-the-radar spots are set to shine in the coming months.”

The article goes on to say, “Texas may not be the first place you think of when it comes to wine, but the Lone Star State is doing its darndest to create some of the best varietals in America outside of the west coast. Dozens of wineries sprinkle the aptly-named Hill Country, with Fredericksburg at the epicenter of the burgeoning scene. A ramble along the Wine Road 290 reveals a remarkable range of Malbecs, Cabernets and Tempranillos served up in state-of-the-art tasting rooms.”

Fredericksburg is the epicenter of the Texas Hill Country Wine Region, with more than 40 wineries and wine tasting rooms in the area, a walkable urban wine trail and more than a dozen wine tour companies calling Fredericksburg home.

“The scenic beauty and the big, starry skies of the Texas Hill Country have been a favorite of Texan travelers for decades,” noted Ernie Loeffler, president/CEO of the Fredericksburg Convention and Bureau. “Now the culinary hot spots, the museums and heritage sites, the nationally recognized art galleries, the upscale shopping, the burgeoning Texas wine industry and the live music scene of Fredericksburg are being discovered by visitors from across the U.S. and the world,” Loeffler continued. “We are delighted that Lonely Planet selected the Texas Hill Country as one of the top ten exciting places to visit in 2017 and look forward to extending our Texan hospitality to visitors!”
