Peach season remains one of the most popular times to visit Fredericksburg and Gillespie County, offering scenic drives, farm stand stops and locally grown shopping - all accented by friendly Hill Country hospitality. In addition to fresh peaches, the summer fruit is used in a variety of peach treats found throughout Fredericksburg. Some of the ways visitors can taste peach products include (This list is not inclusive of all offerings - please visit www.visitfredericskburg.com for more information):
- Homemade peach ice cream at Vogel Orchard, Clear River Pecan Ice Cream and Bakery and Jenschke Orchards
- Fresh-baked peach pies and cobblers at Fredericksburg Pie Company and Eckhardt Orchards

The 2026 peach season was impacted by weather conditions across the Texas Hill Country, including lower-than-normal winter chill hours and a late spring freeze that affected bloom development in some orchards. As a result, this year’s crop is expected to be more moderate than average.
Beyond peach season, Fredericksburg features an impressive mix of Hill Country experiences that make it a compelling destination for summer travel. Some of the area’s most popular activities include:
- Exploring the wineries and tasting rooms along Wine Road 290
- Hiking and stargazing at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

- Visiting the National Museum of the Pacific War, one of the top WWII museums in the country
- Experiencing Fredericksburg’s German heritage at the Pioneer Museum
