Visitor Research Findings Will Be Highlighted on October 16
On Wednesday, October 16, at 9:30 a.m., the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau (FCVB) will hold a presentation of the findings of the latest Fredericksburg/Gillespie County visitor research. To read more, click here.

Fredericksburg Christmas & Holiday Guide Available
The 2019 Fredericksburg Christmas & Holiday Guide is now available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center (VIC), located at 302 East Austin Street.  The guide covers events from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s Eve. For a digital copy, click here.

If you would like copies to distribute in your hotel, B&B, guesthouse or short term rental, stop by the Visitor Information Center and speak with Laurie Jayson, VIC Manager.  This brochure provides the perfect opportunity for lodging partners to invite guests back during the holiday season.  It fits into a #10 envelope for mailing purposes.  There is no charge for the brochures.

  • Texas Mesquite Arts Festival at Marktplatz Friday Through Sunday

Talented mesquite wood artisans come to Marktplatz Friday through Sunday, October 11 through 13, for the 26th Annual Texas Mesquite Arts Festival. Featuring the world’s largest selection of original mesquite art, sculpture, furniture, turnings, architectural accents, gift items, ornaments and more, the event starts Friday at noon to 6:00 p.m. On Saturday festival hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.   • HCBA 2019 Parade of Homes Begins Friday

The Hill Country Builders Association presents an opportunity to walk through newly constructed or remodeled, fully furnished and landscaped homes located in Fredericksburg and surrounding communities Friday through Sunday, October 11 through 13, for $10. Hours of the tour are Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6:00 p.m. For more information, click here.

  • Fredericksburg Theater Company Debuts “12 Angry Men” 

The Fredericksburg Theater Company will present “12 Angry Men.” The play follows the story of a 19–year-old man awaiting sentencing for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case- until one juror feels that there is a “reasonable doubt” – to the frustration of his eleven colleagues – thus preventing a quick verdict. Performances at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 11 and 12, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 13, at 2 p.m. The show will run through October 27 on weekends.   • Just Eat! Real Food Cooking Class at Das Peach Haus

Fischer & Wieser will host Lindie Gibbs in a clean eating demonstration on Friday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Culinary Adventure Cooking School at Das Peach Haus.   • “From Rags to Riches” at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site

  • 39th Annual Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department Fall Fish Fry Scheduled For Saturday

The 39th Annual Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department Fall Fish Fry will be held on Saturday, October 12, on the grounds of the Chamber of Commerce in Stonewall.Enjoy golden fried fish, french fries, pinto beans, cole slaw, sweet rice and a dessert.There will also be a prize drawing, auction and DJ.   • Art and Vino Painting Class Scheduled for Saturday Evening

  • Historical and Architectural Walking Tour Continues Wednesday Evening

The Pioneer Museum’s weekly walking tour will continue at the Schandua House at 111 E. Austin St. on Wednesday, October 9, at 4:30 p.m. and continue every Wednesday through November 20.   • Fredericksburg Fall Farmers Market Happening Thursday Evening

  •  “Rails through Gillespie County” Exhibit Open at Vereins Kirche

Running through March 31, 2020, the “Rails through Gillespie County” exhibit at the Vereins Kirche will cover the history and lasting impact of the short-line railroad that once connected remote Fredericksburg, Texas, to the outside world before modern highways reached the area. of 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, closed on Sundays and Wednesdays.   • “History Lessons from Gillespie County Cemeteries” Exhibit at the Vereins Kirche

The “History Lessons from Gillespie County Cemeteries” exhibit at the Vereins Kirche runs through November 2. The exhibit highlights how Gillespie County cemeteries tell many different stories including times of famine and times of terror. of 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, closed on Sundays and Wednesdays.
