Although John Coleman is widely considered to be one of the most sought-after sculptors and painters of our day, he considers himself, foremost, a storyteller. In his work, he strives to tell the stories of our ancestors so that we may understand our past and those who came before us. His stories, transmitted skillfully through his hand into bronze sculptures, charcoal drawings and oil paintings, are manifestations of historical references fused with emotional undertones of his Native American subjects.
Opening reception with the artist will be on October 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm during First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg. All works will be sold by Draw at the Collectors Reception on Saturday, October 8, from 6 pm by reservation.
