The beauty of the Texas Hill Country has a long history of inspiring artists—dating back to the early German and European settlers in the mid-1800s. Regional, national and international artists still are drawn to the rough and rolling hills, the colorful displays at sunrise and sunset, the fields wildflowers and abundant wildlife.

Southwest Art Magazine has previously named Fredericksburg as one of the top five art towns in the western United States. Meanwhile, SMU’s National Center for Arts Research included Fredericksburg on it's list of “Most Arts Vibrant Small Communities” in the United States.

Fredericksburg's arts community is diverse. You’ll find everything from traditional to modern. From realism to abstract. And in an array of media too.

Come join us for First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg every first Friday of the month. The  galleries remain open until 8 p.m. to introduce new art shows. This is your chance to meet with artists, see them work and enjoy some Texas wine, tasty bites and live music in the process.

And chances are good you’ll find something to take home with you. Maybe a small piece of pottery or a one-of-a-kind piece of statement jewelry. Maybe an oil or watercolor painting, or even a bronze sculpture. Or maybe wood or stone is more your style.

If you love art, then you’ll love the art scene in Fredericksburg. To plan your tour of galleries, request free visitor information or browse these free online resources.
