FREDERICKSBURG, Texas – The Fredericksburg 175th Anniversary Steering Committee has announced a schedule of events for the 175th Grand Finale Weekend, May 5-8, 2022.

The weekend is the culmination of the town’s year-long anniversary celebration of its history and heritage. All events are free of charge unless otherwise noted. The schedule is subject to change as the dates get closer. For the most up-to-date information, visit 175th.org.

Thursday, May 5

  • 6 p.m. Community-wide worship service will be held at Fredericksburg High School Auditorium to celebrate National Day of Prayer and Fredericksburg’s 175th Anniversary.

Friday, May 6

  • Gillespie County Fair Grounds
    • 6 p.m. “Lasting Friendship” ceremony - seating in the grandstands
    • 7:15 p.m. Cowboy Cookout meal served - sausage and potatoes (by donation)
    • 7:30 p.m. Beard contest winners announced
    • 8 p.m. Music on outdoor stage begins
    • 9:30 p.m. Fireworks show visible from Fair Grounds
    • 10 p.m. Music resumes
  • Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park
    • 9:30 p.m. Fireworks show (rain date is Friday, May 13)

Saturday, May 7

  • National Museum of the Pacific War
    • 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Exhibit of the 1847 Meusebach-Commanche Peace Treaty in the temporary gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War. This document is on loan from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission for a two-day exhibition.
  • Main Street
    • 10 a.m. Parade on Main Street from Washington Street to Bowie Street.
  • Pioneer Museum
    • 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Food, entertainment and cultural interpretation for families to celebrate Founders Day. (Museum admission is free but food and drink will be available for purchase)
    • 12 p.m. Community ice cream social on the grounds of the museum
  • Marktplatz
    • 3- 5 p.m. Penateka Comanche Exhibition Dancers at Oktoberfest Halle
    • 5-11 p.m. Pat’s Halle Night at Adelsverein Halle

Sunday, May 8

  • National Museum of the Pacific War
    • 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Exhibit continues of the 1847 Meusebach-Commanche Peace Treaty in the temporary gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War. This document is on loan from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
  • Marktplatz
    • 11 a.m. Commemoration of the 175th Anniversary of the Vereins Kirche, reading of the peace treaty, dance by Penateka Commanche delegation and wreath laying at Meusebach bust in front of the Vereins Kirche
    • Noon- 1 p.m. Pioneers’ Luncheon – for descendants of the original pioneers who settled Fredericksburg who are 75 years and older. (No charge for meal, but reservations are required.)
