Updated 175th Anniversary Opening Weekend Celebration events include:
- “The Art of Fredericksburg: 175 Years” art show featuring more than 60 pieces of original art created by nearly 30 talented artists throughout Fredericksburg’s history will be on display May 8, 2021 – September 19, 2021. The free exhibit will take place in the temporary exhibit hall of the George H.W. Bush Gallery at the National Museum of the Pacific War.
- Tentative opening Weekend Celebratory Fireworks Show will take place on Friday, May 7, at approximately 9:00 p.m. at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.
- Tentative Commemorative Founders Day Wreath Laying Ceremony at Marktplatz on Saturday, May 8 at 11:30 a.m.
In addition to the events mentioned above, visitors and locals will experience the ambiance of the 175th Anniversary Year each day with 175th Anniversary light pole banners, street banners and more throughout Fredericksburg’s downtown historic district.
“The 175th Steering Committee is excited to kick off the celebratory year with a scaled back and socially-distanced schedule of events starting May 7, 2021. We look forward to a full year of celebration and a grand finale weekend – including a parade, dances, community picnic, and so much more in May 2022.” – Tony Klein, 175th Anniversary Steering Committee Chairman
