Labor Day Weekend In Fredericksburg Texas JUL 08 2019
Labor Day Weekend – it’s the last official getaway weekend of summer and the perfect time to take advantage of all that the Texas Hill Country has to offer – shopping, wineries, live music, museums and more.
Friday, August 30
Head to Fredericksburg for an evening of live entertainment, whether that is at Muddfest 2019 at The Backyard Amphitheater or enjoying the comedy of Todd Oliver, an America’s Got Talent finalist, at the Fredericksburg Theater Company. Prior to those evening entertainment options, be sure to do some shopping along Fredericksburg’s Main Street, while enjoying a pint of beer or glass of wine as you stroll. You can also grab a bite to eat before settling down to listen to some your choice of live music or retiring to your cozy accommodations.
Saturday, August 31
Head west to Chisholm Trail Winery for their annual grape stomp – think wood-fired pizzas, Texas wine and purple feet! Or travel out 290 East and take part in the 23rd-annual Grape Stomp at Becker Vineyards.
Or stay in town and experience the newly renovated Pacific Combat Zone and learn firsthand what it was like during WWII. The WWII Pacific Combat Program at the National Museum of the Pacific War runs twice a day on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Grab some tickets and see history come to life.
Saturday evening entertainment options are abundant – mingle with the locals at the nearly “world-famous” Doss Fish Fry which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. in Doss, Texas, or spend the evening dancing the night away at the USO-Style Hangar Dance at the Hangar Hotel. If large crowds aren’t your thing, grab dinner in town and enjoy a relaxing evening with an Art and Vino Painting Class.
Sunday, September 1
The grape stomps continue at Becker Vineyards with the Annual “Lucy and the Italian Woman” Costume Contest, as do wine tasting and wine tour opportunities in Texas Wine Country. Even a Sunday stroll along Main Street’s Urban Wine Trail is sure to please!
Take a step back in time at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm at the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site. Enjoy homemade ice cream and shell some freshly harvest corn during the free “Celebrating the Harvest” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Or relax under the shade of the old oak trees out at Luckenbach Texas with a cold one, live music and the crowing roosters!
Enjoy the music of country music legend Travis Tritt at The Backyard Amphitheater on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
Monday, September 2
Shopping opportunities continue along Main Street (and beyond), wineries are open to explore and museums open for all-day fun on a Monday.
