Horse Racing at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds – right here in Fredericksburg Texas – is a favorite Texas Hill Country summer activity.
Horse racing has been taking place in Gillespie County for more than a century. And for the past two decades, the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association has been offering pari-mutuel betting.
The track is a Class 3 track and the association offers live quarter horse and thoroughbred races during the summer.

The last race weekend in August always takes place with the Gillespie County Fair, which is the oldest, continuous county fair in Texas. And, this year, the fair is celebrating its 131st anniversary on August 22-25, 2019.
Each race day, gates open at 11:00 a.m., post time is 1:00 p.m., and races run until approximately 6:00 p.m.
The Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association is a nonprofit organization that raises scholarship money for local youth. Almost all of the work for the races is done by volunteers.
