4 Steps to Planning a Romantic Getaway to Fredericksburg DEC 18 2018

4 Steps to Planning a Romantic Getaway to Fredericksburg

Step 1- Do your homework. Is your significant other a total foodie, an oenophile, an outdoor adventurer, a history buff, a shopaholic- or a combination of all of the above? Check out the many attractions Fredericksburg & Gillespie County have to offer and prioritize your “must do” activities. You can even use ideas from our romantic itinerary. With so many things to do, you’ll certainly have to leave a few for your next visit.

Insider Tip: Visiting midweek means you’ll have more time to linger with the one you love at wine tastings. There will be less folks on Main Street, and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Step 2- Book your accommodations. Take a look at the lodging section of the Visit Fredericksburg website, where you can sort and filter (by location, price, etc.) the more than 1,200 bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, inns, hotels and motels here in Fredericksburg. From traditional B&Bs to rural cabins to contemporary lofts and boutique hotels- Fredericksburg has numerous lodging options. Start narrowing your search by deciding if you’d prefer in-town accommodations or a rural setting, then continue to filter based on price range, breakfast options and distance to your “must do” activities. Once you have found the perfect property, simply click through the link to the lodging website and book your accommodations with the property and/or reservation service. Go the extra mile and inquire about romantic packages- some reservation companies offer in-room flowers, wine or champagne and other romantic add-ons for an additional fee.

Insider tip: Many lodging properties offer mid-week discounts for Sunday through Thursday stays.

Step 3- Make dinner & wine tour reservations. Based on your “must do” list, book reservations at your selected restaurants and wine tour companies. Dining in the Fredericksburg area can range from white linen tablecloths (think August E’s and Navajo Grill) to Biergarten casual (think Hondo’s on Main and The Auslander). You can find a complete, searchable list of all restaurants, including contact information, on our site.

Insider Tip: Most Fredericksburg area restaurants are “Hill Country Casual” which means there’s no need to wear a suit and tie.

Step 4- Head to the Texas Hill Country. Stop by our Visitor Information Center when you arrive to get tips, recommendations and ideas for your stay. While you’re here, make sure to share your trip favorites with us on Instagram (@visitfredtx) and Twitter (@visitfredtx) by using #FBGTX.
