Food & Wine Fest Volunteers Needed
The Food & Wine Fest is looking for volunteers to serve as Wine Pourers at the wineries’ booths on Saturday, October 28. Volunteers get in free and receive a glass and six tickets – which can purchase one full glass of wine, or two or three different tastings, depending on the wine. There are two shifts for wine pourers – 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. or 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Please call Creative Marketing at 830-997-8515, if you would like to volunteer at this event. Secret Garden Moves to New Location
The Secret Garden has moved to 105 N Adams Street next to Easterling Boots and Creations in Jewelry. The store still offers clothing, jewelry, accessories and stationery and is open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but the store is open until 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.   • “Marktplatz Throughout the Years” Exhibit Starts Tuesday at Vereins Kirche

Beginning on Tuesday, October 10, “Marktplatz Throughout the Years” will highlight the changing landscape of Marktplatz over the last 50 years.   • Paint & Sip Party at 4.0 Cellars Thursday Evening

  • Fredericksburg History 101 Class Slated For Thursday

  • Texas Mesquite Arts Festival at Marktplatz Friday Through Sunday

Talented mesquite wood artisans come to Marktplatz Friday through Sunday, October 13 through 15. Featuring the world’s largest selection of original mesquite art, sculpture, furniture, turnings, architectural accents, gift items, ornaments and more, the event starts Friday at noon to 6:00 p.m. On Saturday festival hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.   • HCBA 2017 Parade of Homes Begins Friday

The Hill Country Builders Association presents an opportunity to walk through newly constructed or remodeled, fully furnished and landscaped homes located in Fredericksburg and surrounding communities Friday through Sunday, October 13 through 15, for $15.   • Nightly Bat Emergence at Old Tunnel State Park

Every evening at dusk from May through October, watch up to 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from an abandoned railroad tunnel at Old Tunnel State Park. The upper viewing area is open seven days a week and is free of charge. The Pioneer Museum’s weekly walking tour will begin at the Schandua House at 111 E. Austin St. on Wednesday, October 11, at 4:00 p.m. and continue every Wednesday through November 29 (no tour on November 22). Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
