Oktoberfest Park & Ride Offers Solution for Festival Parking

Avoid festival parking frustrations by hopping on the Oktoberfest Park & Ride Friday through Sunday, October 6 through 8, during Oktoberfest.  Back for a second year, the Fredericksburg Oktoberfest Park & Ride offers convenient parking by providing festival-goers with all-day park and ride access. Park at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds at 530 Fair Drive, receive your wristband, hop on the bus, enjoy the ride and hop off at Marktplatz for hassle-free Oktoberfest fun. Buses leave every 30 minutes. Park & Ride tickets are $5 per person per day (children 8 and under ride free), or purchase a three-day ticket for $12 per person.   • Historical and Architectural Walking Tour Begins Wednesday Evening

The Pioneer Museum’s weekly walking tour will begin at the Schandua House at 111 E. Austin St. on Wednesday, October 4, at 4:00 p.m. and continue every Wednesday through November 29 (no tour on November 22). Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.   • Fredericksburg Fall Farmers Market Opens Thursday Evening

  • Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery Tour Starts Thursday

Tours of the “City Cemetery” led by Glen Treibs – retired teacher, Fredericksburg native and local historian will begin on Thursday, October 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the gates of Der Stadt Friedhof on the corner of E.   • First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg Returns Friday

  • Oktoberfest Comes to Marktplatz Friday Through Sunday

The 37th annual Oktoberfest comes to Marktplatz Friday through Sunday, October 6 through 8. Celebrate Fredericksburg’s German heritage with food and drink, dance contests, music on four stages all weekend, artisans, Kinderpark, souvenirs and more. Festivities kick off Friday at 6:00 p.m. until midnight. On Saturday festival hours are 10:00 a.m. to midnight and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Tickets will be available at the gate.   • An Evening Under the Stars at Torre di Pietra Friday

  • Nightly Bat Emergence at Old Tunnel State Park

Every evening at dusk from May through October, watch up to 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from an abandoned railroad tunnel at Old Tunnel State Park. The upper viewing area is open seven days a week and is free of charge. On Thursday through Sunday, be one of the first 70 visitors and get to watch from the lower viewing area for $5 per person.  Please call for current emergence time.   • Portraits & Stories of WWII Veterans Exhibit at the National Museum of the Pacific War

  • “Lone Star and Eagle” Exhibit at the Vereins Kirche Concludes Saturday

The “Lone Star and Eagle: German Immigration to Texas” exhibit at the Vereins Kirche runs through Saturday, October 7. It features reproductions of archival photographs, newspaper headlines, maps, and paintings that tell the story of a people adapting ways of the old country to life in a new world.   • Pumpkin Patch at Vogel Orchard Open During Fall Season

Find the perfect pumpkin at Vogel Orchard on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays.
