Fredericksburg Trade Days returns this weekend
Held every third weekend of the month, Fredericksburg Trade Days returns this weekend, February 17-19 showcasing everything from antiques and collectibles, to tools, furniture, handcrafted items, jewelry, and more in five barns, with live music and food in the onsite Biergarten.  There’s no cost to attend; however, there is a $3 parking fee good for all three days.  Trade Days is located just seven miles east of Fredericksburg on Hwy 290 E.

Eyfells & Eyfells Studio Tour this Saturday
Sherryl Brown will conduct a free walking tour on the grounds of the Eyfells & Eyfells Studio featuring the works of sculptor Johann Eyfells and his late wife, artist Kristin Eyfells, this Saturday, February 18 from  10:00-11:30 a.m. at 9068 E. U.S. Hwy 290, near Fredericksburg.  Learn more about the artists, and see their work displayed in three exhibit buildings, an outdoor exhibit, and in a documentary film.  For information, call 830-990-9305.

Torre di Pietra Vineyards’ Jazz in the Vineyard on Saturday
Torre di Pietra Vineyards kicks off its new Jazz in the Vineyard series of free live jazz performances this Saturday, February 18 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with music by the Trevor LaBonte Trio. Fasching Ball kicks off this Saturday
Fredericksburg’s new Fasching Ball, a costumed ball extravaganza celebrating Carnival and Mardi Gras, German-style, will be held this Saturday, February 18 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Hangar Hotel at 155 Airport Road in the transformed winter wonderland conference center.  Live music, beautiful ice sculptures, drink fountains and tantalizing food bars will be at the ready to celebrate the end of winter and coming of spring.  Sponsored by the Fredericksburg Area Lodging and Hospitality Association, the event promises to bring the best of Fredericksburg hospitality together for one night of festive, costumed fun!  Cost to attend is $150 per person or $2,800 for a table seating eight.  For more information, call 830-998-1981.

Gun & Knife Show is this weekend at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds
The Texas Gun and Knife Show returns this Saturday, February 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 19 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds on Hwy 16 S., in Fredericksburg.  Admission is $5, and children under age 12 are admitted at no charge.  For information, call 830-285-0575.

Fredericksburg Theater Company presents “Godspell” on Friday
The Fredericksburg Theater Company will present the groundbreaking musical Godspell based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew and enacting the parables of Jesus Christ in ways unique and wonderful.  This upbeat production runs this Friday, February 17 through Sunday, March 4.  Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. at the Steve W. 2012 Bridal Fair this Sunday
A must for brides-to-be planning weddings in the Fredericksburg area, the 2012 Bridal Fair features wedding gowns, bridal attire, mother’s dresses, jewelry and flowers, while showcasing area vendors (photographers, caterers, florists and more).  The show will be held this Sunday, February 19 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Admiral Nimitz Museum at 340 E. The 10-day self-guided Hill Country Wine Lovers trail sampling chocolates and wine at 33 participating wineries continues this week through Sunday, February 19. KXAN TV Austin covers area’s economic impact of wildflowers, and this season’s bright forecast
John Thomas, owner of Wildseed Farms, and Daryl Whitworth, assistant director with the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau, were interviewed last week by KXAN News on the economic impact of wildflowers in Fredericksburg/Gillespie County.  Thomas, a national expert in wildflowers, is predicting a positive growth season this year.  Yay!

Friends of the Fredericksburg Nature Center to show free film on wildflowers on Tuesday (tomorrow)
Speaking of wildflowers, the Friends of the Fredericksburg Nature Center will show the documentary film, Wildflowers:  Seeds of History, this Tuesday, February 14 (tomorrow) at 7:00 p.m. at the Texas Extension Service AgriLife Building, 95 Fredericksburg Rd., in Fredericksburg.  Produced by KLRU and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, this film provides a trip through the legends, facts and ecological impact behind Texas wildflowers.  This film is timely as 2012 commemorates what would have been Lady Bird Johnson’s 100th birthday. 

Job opportunity: Part-time Travel Counselor needed at Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center – applications due today (Monday, February 13, 2012).
The Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau is accepting applications for a Part-time Travel Counselor to work rotating weekends and holidays in its Visitor Information Center (VIC).  Hours on Saturdays are 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and on Sundays are 10:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.  Rotating work schedule allows some flexibility for part-time employees to choose which weekends and holidays they work (the VIC is closed on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day). Weekend employees must be able to work a minimum of three days per month and attend one one-hour meeting per month during the week.  The job is perfect for someone who has most weekends free and is looking for a little extra income.  This employee must have excellent personal and telephone skills, and also be able to “sell” Fredericksburg and Gillespie County to visitors, making knowledge of area attractions and history important.  All CVB employees must reside in Gillespie County.  Conversational German, Spanish or French is helpful but not required.  Stop by the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center at 302 East Austin Street for an application or send e-mail to for more information.  Deadline for applications is today, Monday, February 13, 2012 at 5 p.m. The Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau is an equal opportunity employer.
