Fredericksburg Farmers Market opens Thursday!
Kicking off this Thursday, May 3, the Fredericksburg Farmers Market will bring fresh, locally grown foods for purchase each Thursday through August from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Kinderhalle Pavilion in the Marktplatz on W. Main Street. Enjoy live music while shopping for a variety of tasty produce, grass-fed beef, artisans’ bread and much more! GET FRESH, Buy Local!

Rockets 2012 takes off this Thursday
The public is welcome to watch this free event as schools from across the state participate in Rockets 2012, beginning Thursday, May 3 through Sunday, May 6 at the Hillview Ranch located north off FM 1323. This event centers on each school’s launch of miniature rockets as part of the students’ science class projects. Launches are scheduled every 20 minutes daily from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Hill Country Motorcycle Rally starts Friday / opening social on Thursday
The 16th Annual Hill Country Motorcycle Rally will be held in Luckenbach Texas this Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6. Many biker activities are planned for the weekend, including Hill Country rides, Cowboy Breakfasts, new games, stunt team shows and helicopter rides. New this year will be the Brew & Brisket on Saturday night. And there will be great weekend entertainment featuring the Flashbacks on Friday and Cheap Sunglasses-A Tribute to ZZ Top on Saturday. Pedernales Brewing Company open this Friday and Saturday for tours and tasting
Fredericksburg’s newest brewery, Pedernales Brewing Company, will open its doors for a sneak preview this Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Stop by to learn about the organization and its Lobo beer. This brewery is located at 97 Hitchin Post Trail off U.S. Hwy 87 South just outside Fredericksburg.

First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg is this Friday
This Friday, May 4, First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg returns with special events planned throughout the day at participating art galleries – with most open until 8:00 p.m. Take a stroll through Fredericksburg’s historic district, sipping wine and checking out what each gallery has to offer. The participating galleries include Agave Gallery, Artisans at Rocky Hill, Cowboy Bronze Art Gallery, Fredericksburg Art and More, Fredericksburg Art Gallery, Fredericksburg Art Guild, Galeria 19 Fine Art, InSight Gallery, Larry Jackson’s Antique & Art Gallery, RS Hanna, River Rustic Gallery, The Charles Beckendorf Gallery, The Good Art Company, Whistle Pik Galleries, and Fredericksburg’s newest gallery, The Village Gallery. Texas Society of Sculptors Art Show opens this Friday at Artisans at Rocky Hill
My Texas, a sculpture show featuring almost 30 pieces by members of the Austin-based Texas Society of Sculptors, opens this Friday, May 4 at Artisans at Rocky Hill. An opening reception and awards presentation for the 14 participating sculptors will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the gallery at 234 W. From Above II Art Show opens this Friday at the Fredericksburg Art Gallery
Artist Phil Bob Borman will be featured this month at the Fredericksburg Art Gallery. His show, From Above II, opens this Friday, May 4 at the gallery at 314 E. Main St., and will run through May 26. Texas Vineyards and Beyond will host its Spring Wine and Food Festival this Saturday, May 5 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at its location at 329 ½ E. Main St. in Fredericksburg. This boutique festival will feature five Texas wineries and local food artisans, along with live music by guitarist Florin Sanchez. Willow City VFD Annual Benefit BBQ on Saturday
Members of the Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department are hosting a BBQ fund-raiser this Saturday, May 5 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the Willow City Fire Station at 2553 Ranch Road 1323, located off U.S. Hwy 16, just north of Fredericksburg. Stop by the Auxiliary’s Country Store from 3:00-6:30 p.m. for baked and canned goods, and where a live auction will be held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Pork BBQ plates with dessert will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. – cost is by donation. Barbeque on the LBJ Ranch on Saturday
The Friends of LBJ National Historical Park annual fund-raiser, Barbeque on the LBJ Ranch, is this Saturday, May 5 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park on U.S. Hwy 290, near Stonewall. This event includes a catered meal by The Salt Lick Restaurant and a musical performance by the Riders in the Sky band. Cost to attend this 4:00 p.m. event is $100 for adults and $40 for children ages 12 and younger – deadline for reservations is this Friday, May 4. Becker Vineyards’ Lavender Fest this weekend
Celebrate all things lavender at Becker Vineyards’ Lavender Festival this Saturday, May 5 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 from noon until 6:00 p.m.  Activities include presentations, cooking demonstrations infusing lavender in the recipes, and vendor booths.  Admission to the Lavender Festival is complimentary; however, there is a $5 parking fee. Bring your camera and water to drink. No admission charge but donations are appreciated. The tour will be held again next Monday, May 7 and Saturday, May 12.

National Museum of the Pacific War to show movie, Forgotten Soldiers, this Sunday
The National Museum of the Pacific War will host a free premier showing of the documentary movie, Forgotten Soldiers, this Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. in its Grand Ballroom of the Admiral Nimitz Museum at 340 E.
