Stargazing 101 at Enchanted Rock
Jul 13 2018 to Jul 13 2018
Join a park ranger as we learn to navigate our dark skies. From finding constellations to specific stars. From myths and legends about these celestial beings to scientific facts and figures. We’ll spend the evening looking and learning. The event is weather permitting; please check the Facebook page for the most up-to-date information. As an International Dark Sky Park, Enchanted Rock boasts some of the darkest skies in this part of Texas, which means the stars at night ARE big and bright deep in the heart of Texas. We will be bare eye stargazing. Feel free to bring your own telescope or camera.
Meet at the Lower Parking Lot. There is no hiking as part of this program. Please park in the Summit Parking or RV Parking lots. Bring a lawn chair, flashlight (preferably with a red lens; mainly for walk back to vehicle/campsite) and dress for the weather.
9 to 11 pm. $7 per person; kids age 12 and under are free. No additional fee for event and no need to pre-register. If you are arriving before or after office hours, you will need to use the Self-Pay station. The Self-Pay station is located at the front door of the office. Self-Pay is cash or Texas State Park Pass only.
