Pumpkin Picking and Fall Fun

Are you trying to find the perfect pumpkin or experience the cooler weather fall provides? Head out to the Texas Hill Country for some fall fun in Fredericksburg! Besides countless shops offering fall styles, decorations or food items, here are three local businesses where you can pick out the perfect jack-o-lantern.

  • The pumpkin patch at Vogel Orchard, located at 12862 Hwy 290 E, offers a real pick-your-own pumpkin patch that includes nine varieties of pumpkins: Jack, Atlantic Giant, Jarrahdale, Cinderella, Fairy Tale, Baby Boo, Pie, Warty Goblin, and Porcelain Doll. Also available for purchase will be ready-picked pumpkins, pumpkin pie, blackberry and peach butter ice cream, peach cobbler, preserves, candy, and other local goodies. Fall hours starting on Friday, September 28, are Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.vogelorchard.com.
  • Jenschke Orchard, located at 8301 Hwy 290 E, offers pumpkins starting on Friday, September 28, at their stand for sale and also offers pick-your-own fields as well. For more information, visit www.bestfredericksburgpeaches.com.
  • Wildseed Farms, also located along Highway 290 just outside Fredericksburg, is not just for flowers. Each Fall, the farm has truckloads of pumpkins and gourds – more than 25 varieties – to choose from.
