Hike Bike & Run the Texas Hill Country This Spring

A number of hiking, running and cycling events are planned in Fredericksburg and Gillespie County this Spring. Lace up your running shoes and get your favorite bike ready for these outdoor events:

The 27th Annual Texas Hell Week Bicycle Tour returns to Fredericksburg with daily unsupported rides across the Texas Hill Country Saturday, March 11, through Saturday, March 18. Three daily distance rides of 40-55 miles, 60-70 miles and 90-105 miles will be offered at 9:00 a.m.

The 10th Annual LBJ 100 Bicycle Tour will kick off with 10 to 62 mile rides across the Texas Hill Country, starting and ending on the famed LBJ Ranch, on Saturday, April 1, at 9:00 a.m. on the air strip at the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park in Stonewall, Texas.

The Outlaw Half Marathon and 5K will take place in Luckenbach Texas under big blue Texas skies and on scenic country roads on Saturday, April 8, at 8:00 a.m. Enjoy live music and a cold one after the run. Participants of the run must be at least 12 years old.

The Guided Nature/Wildlife Walk at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site will take place on Saturday, April 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join park employees and volunteers on a guided nature walk on the park trails to learn a little history and about the flora and fauna of the Texas Hill Country.

The Fredericksburg Wildflower 5K & 10K Run/Walk will begin and end in downtown Fredericksburg at Marktplatz, with scenic routes in and around town, on Saturday, April 29, at 8:30 a.m.

The Bike Out Hunger event, headquartered at the Fredericksburg Inn & Suites, will take place Monday, May 8, through Saturday, May 13, with daily rides of 40 to 90 miles around Fredericksburg and the Texas Hill Country.

The Run-In-Texas Flower Country Women’s 5K/10K through the wildflower fields at Wildseed Farms will take place Saturday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon. Enjoy a post-race champagne brunch, craft beer, free massages and live music.
