Labor Day Weekend In Fredericksburg Texas JUL 21 2016

Labor Day Weekend In Fredericksburg Texas

Labor Day Weekend – it’s the last official getaway weekend of summer and the perfect time to take advantage of all that the Texas Hill Country has to offer – shopping, wineries, live music, museums (with ice-cold AC) and more.

Friday, September 2

Head to Fredericksburg early and enjoy First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg (which runs all day long), shopping Main Street boutiques and enjoying a pint of beer (or glass of wine) while you stroll. Stop by the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church to browse the more than 100 beautiful quilts on display during the 9th Biennial Vereins Quilt Guild Show, then grab a bite to eat before settling down to listen to some live music or retiring to your cozy accommodations.

Saturday, September 3

Start the day with a hot cup of Joe and a bite to eat at any local favorite – Java Ranch, Old German Bakery, Fredericksburg Pie CompanyHilda’s and more.

Then go on an adventure with a quick drive to Harper Texas – where you’ll find yourself in the middle of Texas Hill Country beauty at the 52nd Annual Harper Frontier Days Celebration  with a family-friendly rodeo, live music, BBQ and true small-town-Texas fun.

On your way back into town, make a stop at Chisholm Trail Winery for their annual grape stomp – think wood-fired pizzas, Texas wine and purple feet!

Saturday evening entertainment options are abundant – mingle with the locals at the nearly “world-famous” Doss Fish Fry which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. in Doss, Texas, or spend the evening dancing the night away at the USO-Style Hangar Dance at the Hangar Hotel.

Sunday, September 4

The grape stomps continue at Becker Vineyards with the 13th Annual “Lucy and the Italian Woman” Costume Contest, as do wine tasting and wine tour opportunities on Fredericksburg Wine Road 290 and beyond. Even a Sunday stroll along Main Street’s Urban Wine Trail is sure to please!

Or relax under the shade of the old oak trees out at Luckenbach Texas with a cold one, live music and the crowing roosters!

Monday, September 5

Shopping opportunities continue along Main Street (and beyond), wineries are open to explore and museums open for all-day fun on a Monday.
