Renewable Energy Roundup & Green Living Fair SEP 26 2012

Fredericksburg is going green with the return of the 2012 Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair, Friday through Sunday, September 28 through 30, 2012. The community and family-oriented Green Living Fair has grown to be the largest “green show” in the South, offering event goers access to dozens of exhibits, on-going demonstrations, green-living experts, musical performances and sustainable living products.
The 12th annual event will feature solar-powered tents and use solar energy to power not only the music stage, but also power other aspects of the festival. Taking the green festival a step further, Red Caboose Winery and New Belgium Brewery, will be on hand serving sustainable beverages.
Festivities get started on Friday, September 28, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. as festival organizers present educational workshops (including continuing education classes), and a hands-on children’s environmental program for local schools. Advance registration is required for opening day events.
Other scheduled activities include speakers on sustainability and panel discussions including rainwater harvesting, organic gardening and more. Children can also look forward to creative activities including the opportunity to build and race solar-powered cars and cook s’mores on solar-powered ovens.
The 2012 Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair will take place Friday, September 28, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, September 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg. Festival admission is $15 per day or $25 for a two-day pass. Children under 12 are free.
