The Great Pumpkin Search

Searching for the Great Pumpkin? Find it in Fredericksburg. Pumpkin patches are beginning to open for the season.

The pumpkin patch at Vogel Orchard, 12862 Hwy 290 E, opens Friday, September 16 and will run through Monday, October 31. Its hours are Friday, Saturday and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Enjoy scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating, face painting, pumpkin launching, pies and cobblers, ice cream, jellies, wagon rides and antique tractor displays. The first-ever Vogel Orchard Pumpkin Festival, with free evening trick-or-treating for costumed children, will be held on Saturday, October 29.

Donald Eckhardt Orchards, Hwy 87 S 2.2 miles from Fredericksburg, opens on Saturday, September 24. Find pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and other fall decorating items. Custom ordering and delivery is available. Call (830) 990-1782 for details.

And the Pumpkin Patch at the Pioneer Museum, 325 W. Main, will be open October 1-31. There will be fall and pumpkin-related gifts, cookbooks and pumpkins of all sizes.
